O2 Concepts
Oxlife Independence
Challenge
Our team’s involvement with O2 Concepts began as a project with the goal of developing a new enclosure for this Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC). But this was just the tip of the iceberg.
The project called for some serious innovation to increase the durability and usability of the device. This included the concept of integrating handles and wheels into the product itself. All of O2 Concepts’ competitors make a separate cart which adds weight and bulk to an already 20lb device; a device that can extend the life of patients that depend on its portability.
Process
We were not only tasked with the overall aesthetic of the unit, but also the electro-mechanical design of the components. Working as O2’s design and engineering branch, our team created all processes for assembly and testing, even setting up and supporting their manufacturing facility in Newtown, Connecticut.
Outcome
O2 Concepts is a success as a US-based innovative manufacturer of respiratory products with a focus on Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC). The Oxlife Independence is FAA approved and offers users continuous dose up to 3 lpm with pulse dose settings up to 6 in 0.5 liter increments. It’s patent pending ESA Technology gives it best in class battery life for a continuous dose POC. O2 Concepts is proud to offer providers a One Solution cost model for their oxygen needs.
